Optimism is 'Key to Success' from Zero to millions. : Optimism & Health: People with a sunny disposition are less likely to have high cholesterol. Middle-aged optimists were found to have better levels of ‘good’ cholesterol, which has a protective effect on the heart and helps cancel out ‘bad’ cholesterol, shows new research from the Harvard school of Public Health. They also have lower levels of triglycerides, the fatty molecules involved in hardening of the arteries. People with higher optimism scores also had more high-density lipoprotein (HDL or “good”) cholesterol that protects against, heart disease. For every increase of 5 points on the optimism scale, HDL, in the blood increased by lmg/dl, which translates to a 3% reduction in the risk for heart disease. For comparison. Regular exercise lowers heart disease risk by 6%. Part of the reason may be due to the optimists’ tendency to have a healthy body weight and a ‘prudent’ diet, say the researchers, using data from interviews and lab tests for 900 people aged 40-70. Optimists are likely to succeed. The truth is that the foundation of success is laid out not during good times, but during tough periods. In good times, only the fruits are more visible. The force behind success is Optimism Determination, that’s what makes people succeed and it is an exciting discipline. Our emotional states have lots to contribute towards state and attitude of mind. When we feel good, we usually end up giving a task our best. Our experience during this state is called ‘flow’ and in state of flow, we become high performers. The fact is that we cannot feel good all the time, which is why we pass through a range of emotions, from misery, anxiety and restlessness to irritation, anger or frustrations. These emotions do not lead to good output. As the saying goes ‘birds of a feather flock together’, thus our emotional states have an impact on the kind of energies and people we attract. So, if we are feeling frustrated and experience negative feelings, we will choose to be around people who have synergy with our emotions, and together create more of the same negative emotions that can turn things around.

As the psychologist states-‘Sometimes, we simply drown ourselves, in a flood of negative emotions, and like a whirlpool we are sucked deeper and deeper into self-pity, and other negative emotions. The result is that we make wrong choices, which pull us further down’. Optimism can be followed by positive action because only an optimistic state of mind can make the correct choices. Successful people are not luckier but they are the people who continue working, both in good times and also in testing ones. Among talented people, only those emerge successful in the long run who keep working and polishing their talents. The same goes for good health, positive thinking towards your workout gives you successful results and keeps you healthy and active even in your advance age. At present I am nearly 84 yeas old i.e. I will be 84 in September 2016. I have been doing my workout diligently since 2002.
