Swadesh kohli did her M.Sc. Hons. Zoology from Punjab University in 1956. At that time only a few girls were allowed to do higher studies. Mrs.Kohli's hobbies were Reading, Sports, Gardening, Handicrafts like Knitting, Embroidery and Cooking. Cooking, she learned for her children. To make them realize the importance and exotic taste of vegetarian dishes. To make them aware that vegetarian food is as delicious if not better than non-vegetarian food for health. As a result all her three children have good immunity and till now are free from any chronic diseases. She had some knowledge of cosmetic manufacturing too, which she learned from her father. Her father was a self-made man and established pharmaceutical manufacturing units. His establishments were one of the well- known establishments in undivided India. She learned about cosmetic manufacturing from him. Hair oils, Facial Cream, lipsticks, shampoo, facial soap and perfumes were some of the cosmetic products of which she got some knowledge of. The most important thing which her father taught her was never to use harmful ingredients in the manufacturing of cosmetic. The experiments she conducted as his apprentice, made her familiar with the ingredients. It showed her that it is always safe to depend upon Herbs and Nature’s products which you can easily find in your kitchen. Swadesh's mother was a staunch believer in naturopathy and home remedies. She learned a lot from her and treats her children and grandchildren with home remedies till today. In the year 1972, when she first visited America and she got recipes of pizza, casseroles, crepes, cocktails etc. from there, which were unable in India at that time. in India. pizza dough and Eggplant Parmesan casserole came out more authentic than any of the restaurants in India. Her husband loved to have company for dinner and she tried the new dishes on the occasion, which were well appreciated by the guests. Being a pure vegetarian she tried the non-veg. recipes substituting egg and meat with vegetarian alternatives. At that time it was a new thing , so was appreciated all the more. These days due the health consciousness people are converting to vegetarians. Up to the age of 67-68 she did gardening, but after that her son started looking after the garden, and her gardening came to an end. To keep herself active physically she started learning workout exercises. She travelled a lot, and during that, she learnt and read to comprehend the practices to keep oneself fit by food and exercise. That was the time she first started her workout plan. She acquired the knowledge of Pranayama and Acupressure; Both of these aspects are the basis of Yoga.
Encouraged by how easily she could do most of the stretching, strengthening exercises, different asana, and Pranayama it became a daily routine. Acupressure was applied and the mudras were beneficial for minor ailments. Initially she started with a 15 minutes daily workout but increased to 1- 1½ hour of excercise. In July 2005 she had a major accident and she added her workout plan and her Naturopathy and Home remedy knowledge to allopathic treatemnt with explemplary results. Recently in 2018, she even cured her carpal tunnel syndrome by in-home physio therapy and stretching exrcises. The followup visit amazed the doctor as she was not taking painkillers for the deep wound . Two layered stiches were done on the forehead. She equipped herself by exploring the secrets of nature and recouping quickly from the turmoil. The knowledge she attained during her ordeal, she wants to share with all those who want to adopt alternative therapies for their ailments, and to avoid the side effects of allopathic medicines. She wrote her first book ‘Aches and Pains’ in 2003. It was appreciated by the readers, resulting in the publication of the 5th Edition till 2010.
